It appears that yesterday's prediction made by Qingdao's skipper, Chris Stanmore-Major, that the worst was still to come has been proved correct. According to the skipper of California, Pete Rollason, the past 24 hours have been extremely tough for all the teams as they race across the Pacific Ocean

It would be fair to say there's never a dull moment racing through the Yellow Sea. The grand parade down the coast to Little Qingdao Island is over and the fleet are now back off the Olympic Sailing Centre. Forestay banners are being taken down and sail plans considered.
02 March 2010
As the crews manned their boats this morning a watery sun rose over China's sailing capital. A cold day for the Race 7 start but the warmth of the hospitality shown by the people of Qingdao has taken the edge off the nip in the air.
It's scary when you wake up at 3am in your sleeping bag hanging in the middle of the air looking down on one of your crew members who, because of the angle of the boat, is lying three feet beneath you. You feel very much on the edge.
