Clipper Ventures Plc is the international marine events company founded by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston in 1995. The AIM-listed company owns the rights to the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and the VELUX 5 OCEANS single handed round the world race. In addition to these core events, Clipper Ventures also operates a world-class training division, Clipper Training, and a growing hospitality and events division, Clipper Events, from its base at Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport.

Clipper Ventures is a world leader in developing, operating and promoting major international marine events capable of attracting significant participation, media coverage and associated sponsorship revenue.

Clipper Ventures Plc has supported The Philip Green Memorial Trust since the Times Clipper 2000 Race and to date more than £200,000 has been raised for the very worthy causes supported by the Trust. This figure doesn’t include the funds raised by crew members from the Clipper 07-08 Race who have pledged their support, but even before the race has set off we know they have contributed more than £20,000.

William Ward, the CEO of Clipper Ventures has been a committee member of the Trust for many years and Sir Robin Knox-Johnston has honoured the Trust with his patronage. Without their help and support and that of the crew members, the Trust would not be able to help as many children as it does.

About The Trust

The Philip Green Memorial Trust is a very small charity with a big heart and is run by a committee whose time and efforts are given freely. The Trust helps sick and disabled children all over the United Kingdom and overseas. It supports welfare, medical and educational projects, as well as helping individual children to lead a normal life. Since its inception it has distributed in excess of £4,000,000 to more than 200 organisations and individuals. The Trust not only responds to the needs of large projects, but to the daily frustrations of individuals and smaller organisations for whom a little money can make dreams come true. It has no independent source of funds and relies fully on charitable donations.
